This painting began as the result of a number of wild thoughts, and I originally thought that would be the title for it. But when people started telling me what they saw in it, such as a bird’s-eye view looking down through swirling clouds to an old-fashioned sailboat (another saw it as a sailfish) navigating near rocks as it approached land in a turbulent sea, someone suggested the title ‘Crosscurrents’ and that seemed a more intriguing fit. What do you think?
