Impressions  From Maastricht

March, 2017

Laura had been looking forward to being in Maastricht at the time of TEFAF, The European Fine Art Fair, as part of an adjoining art exhibition.

However, when it was unexpectedly cancelled (under circumstances that are still being investigated), it was time for Plan B.

With the gracious sponsorship of Markus Fine Arts, Laura has been able to visit TEFAF and take a portfolio of her work along to meet Gallery owners and staff, art brokers, art lovers and art journalists, as well as prospective buyers.

It’s been a tremendous opportunity to gain more knowledge about the art world and its many players because TEFAF is the biggest art event of the year. It’s so successful, in fact, that the concept has been expanded to New York City where there will be both Spring and Fall Fairs.

We’ve placed a few videos below, which you can expand into a larger frame, that will give you a taste of the excitement at TEFAF, and then a few of Laura’s newest works that she had planned on exhibiting in the now-cancelled expo.

Laura thanks everyone there who’s taken time to speak with her and offer advice and interest, and thanks Robert Markus for the opportunity to visit TEFAF. She looks forward to following-up with the new contacts she’s made.

Laura’s back in Maastricht today for meetings with the staff at the historic Sint-Janskerk on the famous Vrijthof square to plan a future exhibition of her paintings there.

Laura Meddens’ Newest Works

March, 2017

Originally planned for an exhibition on the Vrijthof, they are instead housed in photographic form in Laura’s printed portfolio that she has been sharing with various people at TEFAF. We preview three of them here, and you can see more on The Art page. Click on the images to see them in a larger size.

Transcendence. SOme people see two wings of a butterly, one yellow and the other orange. Another person saw the headdress of a tribal chieftain with his left hand covering his left eye, and his right eye looking out at the environmental destruction around him and his people. Everyone has their own depth of perception.
